The Jungle Bird was born in the 1970s in Malaysia, initially served at the Aviary bar in the Hilton Hotel in Kuala Lumpur. It is made with dark rum, Campari, pineapple juice, fresh lime juice, and demerara syrup. It is one of the few internationally renowned cocktails that originated in Southeast Asia, uniquely combining tiki style with Italian bitter liqueur.
