Suffering Bastard
Painkiller
The Painkiller cocktail was created in the 1940s at the Shepheard's Hotel in Cairo, Egypt, by bartender Joe Scialom. Initially formulated as a hangover cure, it was served to British officers during World War II. This cocktail became popular during the North African campaign of World War II, with officers often needing this 'lifesaving remedy' after heavy drinking the night before battles. Traditionally, it is served in a special Painkiller ceramic mug, often in an exotic tiki style.
