Hemingway Special

Hemingway Special

The Hemingway Special, also known as 'Papa Doble,' is a sugar-free variation of the Daiquiri created for writer Ernest Hemingway at El Floridita bar in Havana. It is made with rum, grapefruit juice, maraschino liqueur, and fresh lime juice. Hemingway, due to diabetes, preferred this drier, more acidic version.

Flavor
The Hemingway Special is known for its balanced sweet and sour profile, with the rum providing the base, the grapefruit's bitterness balancing the sweetness of the maraschino, and the lime adding a fresh citrus note.
