Mai Tai
The Mai Tai was created in 1944 by tiki pioneer 'Trader Vic' (Vic Bergeron) at his Trader Vic's restaurant. It is made with amber Jamaican rum, Martinique cane rum, orange curaçao, almond syrup, fresh lime juice, and simple syrup. The name comes from the Tahitian phrase 'Maita'i roa ae,' meaning 'very good,' which is said to be the reaction of the first person who tasted it.
