Sazerac

Sazerac

The Sazerac is one of the oldest cocktails in American history, originating in mid-19th century New Orleans, created by pharmacist Antoine Amédée Peychaud. Initially based on Cognac, it was later changed to rye whiskey due to supply issues during the American Civil War. In 2008, it was officially designated as the official cocktail of New Orleans, representing the essence of Southern American drinking culture.

Flavor
The Sazerac has a complex and elegant flavor, combining the fruity notes of Cognac with the spiciness of rye whiskey. Peychaud's bitters provide a unique anise and herbal flavor, while the absinthe rinse adds a subtle anise aroma.
