Brandy Crusta

Brandy Crusta

The Brandy Crusta is a classic cocktail that originated in 19th century New Orleans. It is a refreshing and balanced mix of Cointreau, lemon juice, syrup, Cognac, and a dash of Angostura bitters to add complexity. The addition of cherry liqueur brings a touch of sweetness and a beautiful red hue to the drink. Traditionally served in a uniquely curved glass with a sugar-rimmed edge, which is the origin of its name 'Crusta.' The combination of sweet, citrus, and herbal flavors makes the Brandy Crusta a perfect drink for any occasion. Its rich history and unique flavor profile make it a favorite among cocktail enthusiasts worldwide.

Method

  1. 01

The 'crispy' part of this recipe comes from the sugar-frosted rim that needs to be prepared in advance.

  2. 02

Cut off the ends of the lemon, remove the inside, and leave only the peel.

  3. 03

Place it on top of the glass.

  4. 04

Moisten the rim of the glass and the exposed peel with syrup, then dip it into fine sugar to form a sugar crust on the peel and rim.

  5. 05

Let it sit for a few hours to form a hard shell.

  6. 06

When making the cocktail, add all the ingredients to a cocktail shaker filled with ice and shake well.

  7. 07

Strain into a pre-chilled champagne glass.
